5.1. Bid Priority System

5.1.1. Bid Priority: How It Works

When Bidding with DKP:

Please Note: To participate in bid priority, you must submit your current gear set to leadership. Raid Boxes, Members, Recruits, and Alts are ineligible for Bid Priority.

Bid Priority acts as a x1.5 multiplier to the given bid of the people with priority. So if you bid 1, it is counted as 1.5. If you bid 20, it is counted as 30. If you bid 50, it is counted as 75 (max DKP is 80). If you win on a primary bid over somebody who bid higher than your actual bid, you pay what you bid, not the next lowest primary bid. So for example:

Four basic rules:

  1. Rule #1 — Bid Priority acts as a x1.5 multiplier to the given bid of the people with priority.
  2. Rule #2 — You will never pay more than what you bid
  3. Rule #3 — In the event of a tie, Priority trumps non-Priority
  4. Rule #4 — Fractions are rounded up.

Breaking it down:

  • If you bid 6 with Priority, it is counted as 9.
  • If you bid 20 with Priority, it is counted as 30.
  • If you bid 60 with Priority, it is counted as 90 (yes, priority can push your effective bid over the DKP cap).
  • If you bid 15 with Priority, it is counted as 23 (15 x 1.5 = 22.5; fractions are always rounded up)
If you win on a primary bid over somebody who bid higher than your actual bid, you pay what you bid, not the next lowest bid, and not higher than your bid.

So here are some example situations:

Case #1: Several people bid on a Sword. The top bids are 15 (no Priority), 20 (Priority), 25 (No Priority). The winner is the 20 Priority bid. It is counted as 30 (20 x 1.5). The winner pays 20 (not 16, not 26). You never pay more than you bid. If you beat a higher raw bid because of the Priority bonus, you pay the full DKP you bid.
—–
Case #2: Several people bid on a Sword. The top bids are 15 (no Priority), 17 (no Priority), 20 (Priority). The winner is the 20 Priority bid. This time though the Priority bid only pays 18, because they actually had the highest natural bid. If you win from your raw bid and don’t need the Priority bonus to win, then you pay the next highest + 1.
—–
Case #3: Several people bid on a Sword. The top bids are 15 (no Priority), 20 (Priority), 31 (No Priority). The winner is the 31 with no priority. The winner pays 31. The highest Priority bid is 20, which counts as 30 (20×1.5). 31 beats 30, but pays as if the next highest bid was 30.
—–
Case #4: Several people bid on a Sword. The top bids are 15 (no Priority), 30 (Priority), 80 (no Priority). The winner is the bid of 80. They pay 46 (30 x 1.5 = 45, +1 = 46)
—–
Case #5: Several people bid on a Sword. The top bids are 15 (no Priority), 20 (Priority), 25 (Priority). The winner is the 25 with Priority. The winner pays 25. The highest Priority bid is 25, which counts as 38 (25 x 1.5 = 37.5 rounded up). The next highest is 20, which counts as 30. Because the effective bid of 38 beats the effective bid of 30, the 25 Priority bid wins. But you never pay more than you bid. So even though the next highest is effectively 30, the person who bid 25 pays 25.
—–
Case #6: Several people bid on a Sword. The top bids are 15 (no Priority), 60 (Priority), 80 (no Priority). The winner is the bid of 60. The Priority bid is counted as 90 (60 x 1.5), even though 80 is the max DKP. They pay 60, because you never pay more than you bid.
—–
Case #7: Several people bid on a Sword. The top bids are 15 (no Priority), 20 (Priority), 30 (no Priority). The winner is the bid of 20. Even though the effective bid of 30 ties with the non Priority bid, they do not /random to break the tie. Priority bids always trump non-priority bids in a tie.

5.1.1. Bid Priority: Tier 1 List

As the game has changed this has evolved from an item-specific list to a general focus-type list to give priorities to certain classes. This is done to ensure that, while everyone is able to obtain enhancements for their characters, we get the most needed focus enhancements to the classes that will most benefit the guild as a whole in its progression.

Having Priority gives a 50% bonus to your DKP bid (down from our current 100% bonus). So if you bid 20, it counts as 30. If you bid 31, it counts as 47 (round up).

There are a few items listed below that are “Reserved.” Those items will be given to a member of the listed class according to /random within that class. These are items that guild leadership has determined are essential to our content progression. Some of them are reserved until a set number are distributed, some are reserved until guild leadership determines that the need has been met.

Some of the items below have a “Temporary Priority.” Those items will give a priority bid bonus to members of the listed class until X number are won by that class, at which point it will be removed from Priority, and bid on normally.

If a focus effect or item is not listed below, then it is available for DKP bid without any priority adjustment (if you can equip it).

Priority is only granted if the person does not have a focus effect within that category already.

5.1.2. Bid Priority: How It Works

Remember:

  • Priority is only granted if the person does not have that focus effect already (or comparable).
  • Having Priority gives a 50% bonus to your DKP bid (down from our current 100% bonus).
  • Items with multiple conflicting priority, such as an All/All item with 30% Damage Focus (WIZ) and a Dodge modifier (WAR PAL SHD MNK) merge priorities. So in this example, the priority would be WIZ WAR PAL SHD MNK.

Melee Skills:

  • Backstab: Priority ROG if they do not have Backstab mod already
  • Taunt: Priority WAR PAL SHD if they do not already have a Taunt mod item
  • Dodge: Priority WAR PAL SHD MNK if they do not already have a Dodge item

Spellcasting Skills:

  • Augments with Specialize skills Priority to people who have that skill as their primary specialization if they do not already have one.
